This website is here to allow community members to exchange seeds. This can be done in several ways:
- Go to the seed exchange at Fertile Ground! These fine folks have generously donated a small space in the back of the building to host the exchange. Here we are beginning to collect donated seeds from the community to be available for free. Look back here soon for information on a permanent location. Questions about hours can be directed to olympiaseeds@yahoo.com
- Post on the blog. Maybe you have an abundance of seeds and you want the community to know you are offering them. Then either work out the exchange yourself, or bring them to the seed exchange so people can come get them. This is also the place to ask around for seeds you are looking for. Want to buy larger quantities and share the cost? Blog-it!
- Host a seed exchange party. If you and your neighbors are gardening together, why not trade seeds you harvest this fall?
- Become a seed steward. This is the future of the Olympia Seed Exchange. We are looking for individuals or businesses who want to dedicate a small part of their land to growing seed for the Olympia community.
- Look for our seed donation boxes at supporting business like The Blue Heron Bakery. Here you can drop off any seeds from partially used packs, or seeds you didn’t use this year and don’t want to store. We’ll pick up weekly and take them to the seed exchange to be offered to anyone who needs them.
- Most importantly, save seeds from your garden or farm!
